Comments: These are the surnames of my grandparents they are all from the
Island of Terceira. The following is their full names and villages. Jose Melo
Machado da Rocha, Doze Ribeiras married Angelica Conceicao Gomes Martinho of
Santa Barbara. Manuel Nogueira of Vila Nova married Maria Cordeniz of Agualva.
I have started a family tree for the Rocha/Martinho side but still need lots
of info from any of the families. Any help would be appreciated either in the
families or on how to find info.

Comments: Rosa Brites (she went by this name in the US) born 1889 Nossa
Senhora de Guadalupe, Agualva to Francisco Gomes and Emilia de Jesus (of
Biscoitos). Paternal grandparents José Joaquim Gomes and Josefa Cândida.
Maternal grandparents listed as José Fernandes and Delfina de Jesus, but
Emilia was actually the daughter of the parish priest and the church
housekeeper and was adopted by the Fernandes. Rosa Brites married João Soares
and immigrated to Taunton, Mass.

Comments: Belchior DeSousa Moniz was born on September 13, 1909 in Praia da
Vitoria. He was only 4 or 5 years old when his family moved to the bay area
in California. Then his Mother went back to the Azores. As for his Mother and
Fathers birth and death dates, we have no record. His Grandparents on his
Fathers side were Manuel DeSouza Moniz and Maria Jose. On his mothers side
they were Jose Inacia Roque and Maria Candida. This is about all I know at
this time. My mother has been doing geneology for many years, but has always
had trouble locating good records from the Azores. Do you have any suggestions
to help me get started in this research with what I have up to this point?

Comments: Frank Barcellos, Rosa Josepa Matthews daSilva. Children: *Anthony,
Joseph, Kenneth, Manuel, Mary, *Pauline.
Frank came to the US in 1905, and brought his wife, Rosa, over in 1911. Only
Pauline and Anthony were born in the US (Pauline, in Lincoln, Ca - Anthony,
in E.Biggs, Ca), the others were born in Vila Nova, Terceira. Frank's sister,
owns property in Vila Nova. I will add more as I find out. I know it's not a
lot, but it's a start. I'm having to extract the information from my mom and
she only gives up a bit at a time.
